The unit says it has incorporated the Western system alongside the 2S22 Bohdana and RM-70 Vampire in operations in the east of the country

The 52nd Separate Artillery Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that it has begun operating 203 mm M110 self-propelled howitzers in its arsenal. The information was released by the unit’s own press service, which also detailed the current composition of its artillery assets.

According to the brigade, the unit is equipped with 2S22 Bohdana self-propelled guns, RM-70 Vampire rocket systems, and the 203 mm M110A self-propelled howitzer.

According to Ukrainian military officials, the Bohdana system is used in precision strikes against long-range targets, including artillery pieces, depots, and command posts of Russian forces. Meanwhile, the RM-70 Vampire is used for saturation attacks, focusing on enemy positions and concentrations of infantry and equipment.

The unit did not disclose how it received the M110 self-propelled howitzers. However, their incorporation may be linked to military aid packages provided to Ukraine by partner countries since the start of the large-scale Russian invasion in February 2022.

In October 2025, Greek media outlets reported that the Greek government was considering selling 60 M110A2 203 mm self-propelled howitzers, along with 150,000 rounds of ammunition, to Ukraine via the Czech Republic. The total estimated value of the package would exceed €199 million.

According to those reports, Greek military leadership assessed that such a transfer would not compromise the country’s defense capabilities. The list of equipment mentioned included, in addition to the howitzers, 50,000 M106 shells, 40,000 M650 HERA rounds, 30,000 M404 ICM shells, and 30,000 M509A1 DPICM cluster munitions.

The 52nd Separate Artillery Brigade was formed on August 1, 2025, based on the 55th Separate Artillery Brigade “Zaporizhzhia Sich.” Since then, its units have been operating in eastern Ukraine in fire support missions, counter-battery combat, and strikes against Russian logistics.

The arrival of the M110 increases the brigade’s heavy firepower at a time when artillery continues to play a central role in the conflict. Originally developed in the United States, the M110 is a large-caliber self-propelled howitzer designed for long-range bombardment missions and the destruction of fortified positions.
